Hi everyone!

I’m Yara Maldonado'm Pernia, former student of IES Nueve Valles, my last time as a student at the school was in the 2006/2007 course.

I recently met Luis and he invited me to participate in his newspaper, and I was thrilled!.

One of the subjects Luis taught in the schools Mass Media (Medios de Comunicación Audiovisual), where we shot a chort film where I was the main character: "Con alivosía y nocturnidad", and which won the First Prize in the Festival Internacional de corotmetrajes in Torrelavega in the Section related to Schools. I remember that with the prize we all went to have dinner. It was a great experience that I will always remember with a smile and with love, because everyone involved had a great time.

Since I left the school I have walked a long way and I have had several experiences, I did a Higher Level Training Course, and now I have the title of Senior Technical Professional in Risk Prevention.

Then I decided to turn my way and I moved to Leon, I studied in college and I have finished the course, obtaining the title of Master of Special Education, I am very proud of it!.

There I studied whileI was also working, teaching karate to children and adults, fitness for elderly people, trained and competed with the Karate Squad of Castile and Leon, and also with the University squad, being 4th in the Championship of Spain University in 2011.

My life turns around sports, wherever I go it's in my blood, I keep practicing Karate, competing at Provincial, Interprovincial and the National Cantabrian Karate squad. I won the Silver medal in 2009 in the Championship of Spain for women teams. Those of you who are still in high school can still see a picture of me. It is in the Bachillerato corridor next to the departments of my beloved teachers Fidel, Nacho and Fernando.

I encourage everyone to live away from home, to study elsewhere and start your own life. I will not deny that you will have moments that will not be easy, others more than offset, but definitely worthy. because you're going to gain many things along the way, experience, maturity, fun, friends ... but above all, training for your future, never fail to form yourselves, is the way it is, a cycle, a career, a course, learn languages ... In this country we have a good base of skilled people to decide what to do with their lives.

Finally, I have to tell you that I am currently working at Decathlon as a shopassistant, what’s better that making a job from my passion which is sport? And after I will start to prepare exams for becoming a teacher.

Luis, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to share my last years with all of you. I wish you all the best remember:

"Never forget where you come from, to know where you are heading"

Yara

Hi you guys,

My name is Ana and I was a student at 9 Valles School from 2001 to 2007. I left five years ago and wouldn’t like to get nostalgic, but I have to confess that I have not spent a day without missing him .

To me, it was a wonderful time, of course there were bad times, but I enjoyed it as much as ever.

Now I am in Telecommunications Engineeri with a specialty in Sound and Image. This means that I can design a concert hall or develop a photo editing programme like Photoshop. It's a beautiful career, but with lots of sacrifices. I have not been able to strat working on it, but I hope to start soon.

Now I'm working in a company of telecommunication networks,. This is not the work of my life, but I’m learning a lot and, hey, I get paid ...

Regarding my time in the school, what I remember most fondly was my second year of Bachillerato. Academically it was tough, those of you who are now in this situation will know well: less time for everything, the pressure of facing Selectivity Exams, seriously have to decide what will you like to be in the future, and so on. If I tell the truth, I decided that year, and although everything went well and I think I made a good choice, I wish I had had more time to reflect.

But I'm a mess, I'm sure you have things clearer than me.

As I said, my favorite was the second year of high school, I did a lot of funny things, but if there's one thing I'll never forget is the short film we shot in Mass Media,. I have been told that this subject has been removed, and it seems a shame, because it was really fun, a break from Maths and so much History.

I desperately hope that Luis will not have shown it because I feel very ashamed, but it was fun to do. The whole process from thinking about the idea and helping with the script to shoot it and submit it to the contest in Torrelavega.

I was the main character, and Luis taught me how touse a katana. Do not tell anyone, but for a few days I spent breaks at school using the katana and destroying cardbox boxes with it. Probably, now you will understand why it was so much fun, right?

Among other things like killing people in elevators or bathrooms, Luis made me jump from a height of three tables (literally there were three tables) holding the katana and with boots that weighed 2 kilos each to attack three boys. I still don’t know how we all live that experience.

In short, it was hilarious.

We sent the short film to the festival internacional de Cortos in Torrelavega, and we beat all the other schools and won the First Prize. They show it on a big screen and they gave us the prize with flashes on top of the stage. It was like a small Oscar ceremony and I felt like a superstar for five minutes.

Writing all this has brought me lots of wonderful memories.

If you allow me a tip, pick out the most of the school, and get seriour about university, but also have fun, believe me, there’s time for everything.

I send you greetings and my best wishes from Madrid enormous, hoping to return home soon.

See you,

Ana Sotorrios
